PUBLIC NOTICE FIRE COMMISSIONERS OF WASHINGTON TOWNSHIP FIRE DISTRICT #1 The Board of Fire Commissioners of Fire District #1, Washington Township, Mercer County, New Jersey will conduct their annual Commissioners and Budget Election on Saturday, February 16, 2002 at the township firehouse, located at 1149 Route 130, Robbinsville, between the hours of 2:00 p.m. and 9:00 p.m. Two commissioners will be elected to three-year term. The budget as listed below was adopted on second and final reading at a meeting held January 9, 2002. The proposed district budget for the calendar year of 2002. WHEN TO VOTE BY ABSENTEE BALLOT
Civilian absentee ballots are available to registered voters who cannot vote in
person for the following reasons:
expect to be absent from New Jersey on election day
illness or disability
observance of a religious holiday
residing at an educational institution (college students)
hours and nature of employment (commuters who may not arrive home in time)
Military absentee ballots are available to registered or unregistered citizens of voting age who are: |
HOW TO "VOTE ABSENTEE"
To obtain a civilian absentee ballot, registered voters can
mail in an application to be delivered to the county clerk at least 7 days
before the election, OR apply in person by 3:00 p.m. on the day before the
election.

The application should include the date of the election,
your home address including municipality, address to where ballot should be
sent, and reason for request. Print and sign your name where indicated with
the same signature used at the polls. Failure to do so may result in the
rejection of your application.
Mail or take this application to your County Clerk listed
below. This application must be received by the County
Clerk no later than 7 days prior to the election. You may come in
person up until 3:00 p.m. on the day prior to the election.
If ill or incapacitated, you may send written authorization
with a family member or registered voter within your county to obtain your
ballot and return it to the county clerk's office within the above time
frame.
Do not submit more than one application for the same
election.
After approval of your application, your ballot and
instructions will be mailed to you on or after the 40th day prior to the
Election. If application is made in person within the seven-day period
before the election, the ballot will be given to you at that time.
Absentee ballots must reach the County Board of Elections no
later than 8:00 p.m. (close of the polls) on the day of the election.
If you have applied for an absentee ballot, you MAY NOT VOTE at your polling place for that election, regardless of whether or not you completed and submitted the absentee ballot.

Voter Registration Information
Who May Register to Vote
The Commissioners of Registration cannot accept faxed copies or an electronic transmission of a voter registration form since an original signature is required. The registrant must down load the form and send the hard copy to the Commissioner of Registration. The registration deadline to vote at the next election is 29 days prior to election day.
