WASHINGTON TOWNSHIP (Mercer Co.) — A serious two vehicle accident occurred at the intersection of Route 526 and Pond Road around 8 a.m. May 21, 1999. Firefighters from the Washington Township Fire Department (Mercer Sta. 40) were called for a car smoking, and after securing the car assisted the EMS squad. Allentown First Aid Squad (Monmouth Squad 82-21) transported the 3 victims to two different hospitals. Mercer County MICU responded but returned. The Washington Township Police Department is investigating the crash.
