BALCONY BLAZE

WASHINGTON TOWNSHIP (Mercer County) --- Washington firefighters were summoned to a fire on the second-floor balcony of a residence on Wyndam Place in the Foxmoor section of the township in the early hours of Sunday, September 13, 1998. Fortunately, firefighters were able to quickly bring the fire under control with handlines. Washington Township Fire Marshal Dennis Symons determined that the fire started in a plastic flowerpot after the resident carelessly discarded a lit cigarette.
