Washington Township Fire Department
Dear
Residents,
In an effort to continue to provide the best service possible to the
community, the Washington Township Fire Dept. is launching a new Voluntary
Home Safety Inspection Program. The program is strictly voluntary, but if
you participate there are many benefits for you and your family. This letter
will inform you of how the program works, what is included in the safety
inspection, the benefits of participating, and how to schedule your home safety
inspection.
How the program works is simple. You contact the fire department and tell them that you would like a home safety inspection. The fire department will then schedule an appointment with you to conduct the inspection. The fire department will then send out a crew of highly trained fire inspectors and firefighters to inspect your home.
The Home Safety Inspection Program includes the following:
80 percent of
all fatalities from fire occur in the home. In 1998, there were 4035 fire deaths
in the United States. There was also a staggering 1,775,500 fires resulting in
over 8 hundred million dollars in property loss.
Upon the completion of the inspection, you will have
the assurance that your smoke detectors work, you will have an escape plan, you
will know facts about fire prevention and fire safety, and you will have written
recommendations on how to correct any hazards found during the inspection.
To set up an appointment for your home fire safety inspection, contact the Washington Twp. Fire Dept. anytime at (609) 259-7814
