WASHINGTON TOWNSHIP SENDS ASSISTANCE TO NYC

        NEW YORK CITY--Six firefighters from the Washington Township Fire Department were sent to assist in the terrorist incident that happened at the World Trade Center in New York City the morning of Tuesday September 11, 2001. Lieutenant Kevin Brink and Firefighter Jason Palmer on the NJ Urban Search and Rescue Task Force responded with the team to the scene of the incident. Captain David Horsnall, and Firefighters Dan Schaffner, Simon Hernandez, and Ed Haemmerle responded to North Jersey for EMS triage. At the time of this report the group was assisting patients at the Meadowlands. 

The entire Washington Township Fire Department is deeply saddened by today's tragic and shocking events. As members of the nation's fire service, we stand ready to offer our full support to the fire departments of New York, Washington, DC, Virginia and Pennsylvania in response to today's tragic and shocking events. Our sympathy and prayers are with the victims, their families and our entire nation, which shares their grief. We remain committed to working with all appropriate agencies, national and international, to assure the safety and security of the citizens of Washington Township and all Americans.

Photos below are from the EMS staging area at the Atlantic Highlands. Injured people were brought in by ferry boats to the area and then transported to local area hospitals.
