WASHINGTON TOWNSHIP (Mercer County)—A small aircraft lost control at Trenton Robbinsville Airport and crashed onto the 17th Hole Green, and hit a tree before coming to rest at the nearby Miry Run Golf Course. The accident occurred the afternoon of Sunday, June 25, 2000. Washington Twp. Fire Department responded and foamed the aircraft due to a spill of about 50 gallons of high-octane aircraft fuel. The fuel spilled as the aircraft wing broke off when the airplane hit a tree. There were no injuries reported in the crash and the 17th and 18th holes at the golf course were closed for the afternoon. The Hamilton Township Hazardous Materials Team responded for the fuel spill. The Federal Aviation Administration is investigating the crash.
