WASHINGTON TOWNSHIP -- A fire in a dryer caused minor damage to the Rose Hill assisted living complex at 1150 Washington Blvd. on July 26, 2001
The fire began around 1:30 p.m. when a plastic sheet in an industrial dryer overheated and ignited a load of linens, said Lt. Dennis Symons of the Washington Township Fire Department. Someone tried to use a chemical extinguisher to control the fire but was unsuccessful.
Firefighters contained the flames and extinguished the blaze five minutes later.
Although the fire company had to vent smoke with fans, there was no major damage, said Rose Hill administrator Stephanie Letterman. None of the residents were evacuated and no injuries were reported.
