— Separate accidents at the intersection of Sharon and Gordon roads
sent four people to area hospitals within a span of two days. On Tuesday, Aug. 7, at 12:19 p.m., a 17-year-old male from Cream Ridge was transported to Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital in Hamilton after his Chevrolet pickup truck collided with a Buick Sentry driven by 53-year-old Anhelina Vanko of Philadelphia, according to township Detective Chris Nitti. Police said Ms. Vanko apparently ran a stop sign on Gordon Road and struck the pickup truck. The following day, at 4:14 p.m., a Chevrolet Lumina driven by Helen Tindall, 76, of Washington, was hit by a Toyota Camry driven by Herminio Aviles, 40, of New Brunswick. Detective Nitti said Mr. Aviles reportedly did not stop at a stop sign on Gordon Road and struck Ms. Tindall's car, causing it to flip over. Police said Ms. Tindall was taken to St. Francis Medical Center in Trenton. Mr. Aviles and a passenger in his car reportedly were transported to the Capital Health System at Fuld hospital in Trenton. Detective Nitti said all four individuals — the 17-year-old from Aug. 7 and the three people from Aug. 8 — were taken to hospitals due to complaints of pain. None appeared to be seriously injured, he said. The Allentown First Aid Squad and Washington Township Fire Department assisted police at each accident. Detective Nitti this week said no charges were filed yet in either accident, but that each incident still was under investigation. |
