
NJTP Truck Fire
Robbinsville Township- Fire Fighters responded to the New Jersey Turnpike on January 8 at approximately 1400 hrs for a report of a Ford Pickup Truck on fire and leaking gas at mile marker 62.2 south bound. Upon entering the Turnpike, Engine 40 and Rescue 140-10 saw in the distance a column of black smoke which meant that the truck was on fire. Units arrived on scene with in minutes due to the heavy traffic volume and went in service with an 1 3/4" hand line. The fire was knocked down with in minutes and overhaul took place. Engine 402 was requested to respond to supply Engine 40 with additional water supply. All Station 40 units made themselves available with in 30 minutes. The cause of the fire is unknown at this time.
