Collision sends student, woman to hospital

Staff Report
WASHINGTON TOWNSHIP -- A head-on collision between vehicles driven by an Allentown High School student and a Jackson Township woman yesterday sent both to Capital Health Systems at Fuld hospital.

The crash occurred on Route 539 at 7:12 a.m. as student Bartosz Chudzik, 18, of Perrineville, was heading south in a 2000 Honda Prelude, according to Washington Police Lt. Dominick Botteri.

The other vehicle, driven by Linda Petraglia, 53, of Jackson, was heading north.

"Chudzik entered the northbound lanes and hit her head-on," said Lt. Botteri. "We think speed may have been a factor."

The township fire department responded, along with Hope Fire Company of Allentown. While the young man pulled himself out of the wreckage, about a half-hour was needed to complete the extrication of the woman.

"She had multiple fractures of the leg and jaw," said Botteri. "Both are in the operating room at Fuld.

"The accident is under investigation by Patrolman James Moore."

Botteri said Chudzik was operating with a provisional driver’s license.
