Volunteers Assist Police for RAD Kids Program

WASHINGTON TOWNSHIP- At 1900 hrs, the Volunteers were scheduled to assist the Washington Township Police Department with their RAD Kids Program. The program was ran by Patrolmen Barbra Borges and Patrolmen Scott Kivet and The Washington Police Department. The program teaches kids defense against bullies and grown-ups who are strangers and traffic safety. It also teaches the kids about what poisons are and how bad they are and also about drug awareness. What to do incase of a fire, dialing 9-1-1, Fire Safety and overall, it teaches the kids to be defensive and no offensive and to defend and not attack. The program itself is a way to make kids and children more aware of drugs and any dangers and what to do incase of an emergency.  The Volunteers attended to answer questions about Fire Safety, discuss the importance of staying away from fire and making the right 9-1-1 call. Then to conclude the night, the kids were shown the fireman's  gear and what they look like with everything on so that they will not be afraid of firemen if they were to have an emergency at their house. They were also given a tour of the fire truck and and answered all questions about the tools that were on the engine.
