Driver Avoids a Rabbit but Strikes a Utility Pole

Washington Township (Mercer County)- A single car accident occurred on West Manor Way near Applegate Drive shortly after 12:36 p.m. on Monday July 9, 2007. A woman driving north bound on West Manor way veered off the roadway to avoid hitting a rabbit and hit a utility pole instead cutting it in half. Firefighters from the Washington Township Fire Department responded to the scene and removed the woman from the car under dangling live electrical lines. The woman was transported by the fire department to Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital at Hamilton. Washington Township Police Department also responded and provided aid at the scene. The Police Department is investigating the crash.
