Tractor Trailer And Car Collide On The New Jersey Turnpike In Washington Twp 

 

Washington Township (Mercer County) – Station 40 was dispatched to the area of the New Jersey Turnpike M. M. 63.4 southbound for a rescue assignment. Engine 40, Rescue 140-10, Chief 40 and FM-40 all went responding.

Upon arrival of Chief 40 he advised Mercer County dispatch that he had an overturned vehicle with a tractor-trailer off the road into the woods. The sole person in the car was out of the totaled car and being tended to by N.J.S.P. The Driver of the tractor-trailer was able to free himself. The tractor-trailer came to rest against some trees prior to the Windsor Road overpass.

Engine 40, Rescue 140-10 and FM-40 all arrived at the same time. Rescue 140-10 crew and Medics tended to the victim of the overturned car. The driver of the Tractor Trailer refused Medical treatment.

Engine 40 crew’s checked both vehicles. One of the saddle tanks from the tractor-trailer was ripped opened and was leaking. New Jersey State Police and the Turnpike Authority advised they would handle the leaking fuel from the saddle tank. The tractor-trailer was carrying packed garbage, and it was strewn all over the area.

Rescue 140-10 and medics transported the occupant of the car to the Trauma Center in Trenton. Chief 40 cleared all units and turned the scene to the New Jersey State Police and the Turnpike Authority.
