Tow Truck Driver Extricated on NJTP

 

Washington Township (MERCER)--The Washington Township Fire Department was called to the scene of a serious accident on the New Jersey Turnpike the morning of March 12,2006. The accident occurred when a flat bed tow truck being driven North Bound at mile maker 63.3 ran off the roadway and struck a tree severely pinning the driver of the truck. The accident was reported at 8:45 a.m. and firefighters arrived at 8:53 a.m. and started extrication. Hope Fire Company of Allentown was called to the scene for additional aid as well as the Mercer County Paramedics. The driver was extricated at 10:14 a.m. and was rushed to the hospital by Washington Township Fire Department ambulance. The 2003 Freightliner tow truck was owned by Coast to Coast Towing, Irvington, NJ. The NJ State Police is investigating the crash.
