Car Fire on NJ Turnpike

WASHINGTON TOWNSHIP (Mercer) - Firefighters from the Washington Township Fire Department were called to a report of a car fire on the New Jersey Turnpike at 9:05 AM on Saturday March 18, 2006.  Firefighters arrived to find a well involved vehicle at milepost 64.7 just south of the Township line with East Windsor.

The fire proved more difficult than usual to extinguish as fuel leaked from the ruptured full gas tank and reignited several times.  Firefighters at the scene used foam to extinguish the fire.  One engine from Hightstown responded to the scene to assist.
