Career Day at Robbinsville HS

WASHINGTON TOWNSHIP (Mercer)--On Tuesday, March 21, 2006, firefighters from the Washington Township Fire Department participated in the Robbinsville High School "Career Day."

Various different professionals were represented at the High School including Physicians, Police Officers, FBI agents, Lawyers, Firefighters and Nurses.

Firefighters spoke to students candidly about the dangers and stress involved in the Firefighting and EMS profession, the importance of being physically fit, and the need to maintain good grades in school.  Students were told about a typical day in the life of a career firefighter, the steps that they need to take in order to pursue a career in the fire service and the importance of furthering their education in college in order to prepare for a career in the 21st Century Fire Service.

The presentation was followed by a question and answer session.  Students were encouraged to seek volunteer opportunities at the fire department first to determine if the fire service was a good fit for them
