WASHINGTON TOWNSHIP
(Mercer)--On Tuesday, March 21, 2006, firefighters from the
Washington Township Fire Department participated in the Robbinsville
High School "Career Day."
Various different professionals were represented at the High
School including Physicians, Police Officers, FBI agents, Lawyers,
Firefighters and Nurses.
Firefighters spoke to students candidly about the dangers and stress
involved in the Firefighting and EMS profession, the importance of
being physically fit, and the need to maintain good grades in
school. Students were told about a typical day in the life of a
career firefighter, the steps that they need to take in order to
pursue a career in the fire service and the importance of furthering
their education in college in order to prepare for a career in the
21st Century Fire Service.
The presentation was followed by a question and answer session.
Students were encouraged to seek volunteer opportunities at the fire
department first to determine if the fire service was a good fit for
them
