Medevac Landing Zone

        Washington Township/Upper Freehold Township--Washington Township Fire Department, Allentown Fire Company and Allentown First Aid Squad were all dispatched about the same time to several different locations for the same motorcycle accident. The confusion came from cell phone callers reporting the accident on Route 526 and I-195 when the accident happened to be Route 539 about 1/4 mile North from I-195, emergency service dispatchers sent equipment to both locations. While returning from the unfounded call at 526 firefighters stopped to lend a hand at the other location. A landing zone was set up in Washington Township at one of the new warehouses on New Canton Way near the scene. A NJ State Police medevac helicopter landed but Paramedics decided that the patient did not need the flight to the hospital so the helicopter returned to duty.
