Attention Robbinsville Residents

**Please note our truck is filling up quickly and our clothing needs have been exceeded. Please refrain from bringing clothing to the firehouse because we still need room on the truck for much needed relief supplies and there is no more room on the truck for clothing and have no storage for the clothing** --Thank you for your support!!

If you would like to donate items please follow the guidelines below:

Please join the Robbinsville Community Relief Effort to aid the victims of Hurricane Katrina. This is a community-wide effort encompassing our Township Officials, schools, Police and Fire department, seniors, local businesses, and several other groups in our community.

We have “adopted” the town of Ocean Springs, Mississippi. The community is comparable in size to Robbinsville and has suffered substantial damages from Katrina. Bohren’s United Van Lines has graciously offered to supply the trucks and drivers for the relief effort. These items will be driven directly to Ocean Springs.

Our goal is to collect items of need and ship them to Ocean Springs, Mississippi as soon as possible. We have been in touch with Ocean Springs Township Officials, School Officials and a number of residents who gave us some insight as to what items are needed.

Update 09-07-2005

Due to the overwhelming response we have received enough clothing for the IAFF drive at this time. Please hold on to any clothing and check back to see if we will need clothing in the future. We are evaluating the items we received so far and will keep posting items of need that will be sent to the Gulf Coast.

Washington Township will be adopting a town, Ocean Springs, Mississippi and will be filling a tractor-trailer with needed relief supplies.

The Township is in contact with a relief coordinator in that town and will be supplying us with an updated list of what is needed for the relief effort.

We will be posting more information about the adopted town and an updated list of items needed on 09-08-2005 please check back then.

Firefighters will be collecting summer and fall type clothing and shoes of all sizes for men, women and children. It will still be warm in the south for the next few months and summer clothing is still needed, as well as any type shoes, sneakers or even flip-flops. Clothing must be new, washed, clean and in good condition, ready to wear.

Fire departments are asked to spare any turn out gear available that is serviceable and safe to wear.

Items may be dropped off at the fire department located at 1149 Route 130 between the hours of 7 a.m. and 7 p.m. 7 days a week.

The IAFF is coordinating delivery of these items to affected areas and will have more information on the final departure date of the items. Further information will be posted on the website when we receive it from the State or National Office.

The clothing and footware must be clean and in good condition.

Township firefighters also are collecting old, but still usable firefighters' "turnout gear" and other personal protective equipment to be donated to rescue personnel in the ravaged region.

E-mail announcement from the IAFF:

HURRICANE KATRINA RELIEF EFFORT:
ANNOUNCING STATEWIDE FF CLOTHING & FUND DRIVE
The Professional Firefighters Association of New Jersey hereby announces, and accordingly asks all of it's affiliates of the International Association of Fire Fighters in New Jersey, as well as others that may want to and are welcome participate, to immediately set about the following efforts within their Departments, Local Unions and communities that will aid our Brother and Sister union members in the Gulf region:

Begin a collection within your Department and Local Union from our very own membership - On their best day many of these Brothers and Sisters do not enjoy the wages, benefits and working conditions that we do. Give until it hurts!

Before your family puts away their summer clothing, and while you pull out that fall apparel, take what you can part with and then some more - men's women's and children's clothing - It is still and will be for some time warm in the Gulf region. Don't forget any kind of shoes, sneakers, boots and even flip-flops! CLEAN OUT THAT FIREHOUSE T-SHIRT COLLECTION YOU COULDN'T POSSIBLY WEAR ANYWAY!

Very Important! What kind of turnout gear (PPE) can your department part with that is serviceable and safe to wear. Many of the Brothers and Sisters not only need second sets but even first ones lost or contaminated by the storm.

After that it's time to get out into the community for a "Fill the Helmet or Fill the Boot Drive" as well as using your firehouses for summer and fall clothing collection points. Get fliers out around town through the grade schools and take ads in your local newspapers.

Funds that are raised should be sent to the:

 IAFF Hurricane Disaster Relief Fund
1750 New York Avenue, NW
Washington, DC 20006

or to the State Office:

PFANJ Gulf Region Firefighter Relief Effort
24 West Lafayette Street
Trenton, NJ 08608

All donations will be sent in the name of those who made same!

Clothing should be kept until we get a shipping destination point for same that is still being worked out by the IAFF.
