Washington Township (MERCER)--The Washington Township Fire Department will be collecting non-perishable food items for the Salvation Army until Friday December 16, 2005.
The items will be given to the Salvation Army Community Center at 575 East State Street in Trenton, which will assemble and coordinate the distribution of holiday baskets for needy families in the Mercer County Area.
The Salvation Army Community Center has already received 250+ applications for assistance during the holidays from the Mercer County Area alone. The Holiday Baskets will contain enough food items to support a family for a week during the holidays.
The Community Center serves families, homeless and children of Mercer County. The Center also serves approximately 250 holiday meals during Thanksgiving and Christmas weeks. Last year, The Salvation Army touched the lives of over 360,000 New Jersey residents.
The hours of collection will be 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. at the firehouse at 1149 Route 130, Robbinsville. We can only accept non-perishable, non-refrigerated food items for collection. It is recommended to call the fire station at 609-259-7814 to make sure the on-duty crew is available before coming to the fire station.
