Washington Township (Mercer)--The "Yankees" of the Washington Township Little League majors division won the league championship game on Sunday June 12, 2005 at Tantum Park.  This was the team sponsored by the Washington Township Uniformed Firefighters Association, IAFF Local 3786.  Career firefighters from the Washington Township Fire Department were on hand yesterday to watch the Yankees as they beat the runner-up Athletics 12-2 in five innings.  IAFF Local 3786 President Jason Palmer and Vice-President Jason Belmont along with Little League President and Township Fire Commissioner Greg Zalenski handed out medals to all members of the championship team.  Congratulations to all members of the Champion Yankees for a great game and a great season.
