195 Accident

 

        UPPER FREEHOLD (Monmouth County) – On Monday December 5, 2005 the Washington Township Fire Department responded to Interstate 195 in neighboring Upper Freehold Township to assist at the scene of a serious truck accident.  Arriving firefighters from Washington Township found Allentown and Millstone Township Firefighters already on scene extricating the driver of a dump truck that had slammed head-on into the bridge abutment at interchange 11 near Imlaystown.  The truck driver suffered serious injuries. 

Washington Township Fire Department set up a landing zone at the scene.  State Troopers closed the West bound lanes of Interstate 195 for about 15 minutes while a New Jersey State Police medevac helicopter landed on the highway.  MICU paramedics from Mercer County treated the patient at the scene prior to transferring the patient to the helicopter flight crew.  The driver of the truck was transported to a local trauma center.
