Automobile accident in Washington Township causes driver to be hospitalized.
WASHINGTON — A car slid off of Route 130 during a rainy morning Sept. 3, crashing into a large tree and sending the driver to the hospital.
Glenn Roughgarden, 41, from Trenton, remained hospitalized in "good condition" as of Tuesday. He was the only person involved in the accident.
He was driving south on Route 130 when his car skidded off the roadway in front of the Trail's End Motel. The tree was not damaged but Mr. Roughgarden's 1993 Chevy Lumina was totaled, Washington Township Police Capt. Martin Masseroni said.
Washington police and EMS responded to the accident at about 10 a.m. Mr. Roughgarden, who was wearing a seatbelt at the time of the accident, was transported to Capital Health System-Fuld Campus in Trenton.
There were no witnesses to the accident, Capt. Masseroni said, and an investigation will take place once the driver can be interviewed.
A lane of Route 130 was closed for cleanup for short time after the accident, Capt. Masseroni said.
