WASHINGTON TOWNSHIP - Two unrelated car accidents in the township in as many days left two women in the hospital with injuries.
A 78-year-old woman was transported to Capital Health System at Fuld hospital in Trenton after she lost control of her car, drove over the curb, just missed a tree, then crashed into the side of a town house on Wyndham Place shortly before 2 p.m. yesterday, officials said.
Police officers, firefighters and a township construction official responded to the accident. The town house sustained structural damage and was deemed uninhabitable until repairs can be made, officials said.
On Monday, a 61-year-old woman was hurt after she lost control of her vehicle in the garage of her home on Roosevelt Way, officials said.
The woman apparently tried to get out of her car about 1:45 p.m. while it was still in gear. As the vehicle moved, she was briefly pinned between it and part of the garage door, officials said. She suffered serious injuries and was transported to the trauma center at the Fuld hospital.
Officials did not identify the two women but said their injuries weren't life-threatening.
