Wind damage keeps department busy

WASHINGTON TWP (MERCER)--Winds from a storm system exiting the area kept the fire department busy with wire down calls on Tuesday May 14, 2002. The first call was at 2 p.m. at the intersection of Robbinsville-Allentown Road and Spring Garden when wires fell from a pole and burned in the roadway creating power surges and knocking out power in the community. Later on in the afternoon a tree on School Drive fell, ripping down the electrical service wires to a private home. Damage was reported to the home as well as a car parked in the driveway.
