WASHINGTON TOWNSHIP -A car fire at mile marker temporally shut down the New Jersey Turnpike at mile marker 62.4 on Sunday evening August 11, 2002. A car caught fire and the driver stopped in the center lane when the vehicle's engine compartment became fully involved. Crews from WTFD extinguished the fire. The NJTP was immediately reopened after the fire was extinguished and car towed to the side of the road.
