WASHINGTON TOWNSHIP - A woman was seriously injured when she lost control of her car, crashing into two utility poles last night in the 2300 block of Route 33.

The eastbound car careened off the first pole, breaking the pole in half before crashing into the second pole head on.

The accident happened shortly before 7 p.m., police said.

The driver, whose name was not released yesterday because her family had not been notified, was in and out of consciousness before being taken to Capital Health System at Fuld in Trenton, said Sgt. Charles Petty.

Two children in the car were also taken to the hospital.

The 2300 block of Route 33, between Washington Boulevard and Robbinsville-Edinburg Road, was closed for about an hour while utility crews secured the power lines. Several houses had their cable television and telephone service interrupted.
