Serious Crash on I-195
August 20, 2002
WASHINGTON TOWNSHIP (MERCER)--Washington Township firefighters extricated an injured passenger from the wreckage of a car that veered off Interstate 195 eastbound just before Exit 8 and hit a tree about 12:30 p.m. on August 20, 2002. Four people, two women and two men were hurt in the single-vehicle accident. The men, both of whom were backseat passengers, were the most seriously injured and were being cared for at Capitol Health System at Fuld hospital in Trenton. The men were both expected to live, NJSP said. State police were still investigating and did not immediately release the victim's names. The Allentown First Aid Squad assisted the Washington Township Fire Department with the crash.
