Billing Questions:
On January 1, 2004 the Washington Township Fire Department began to bill medical insurance companies for the cost of ambulance transport. This allows the fire district to reduce the fire tax rate and provide an affordable, reliable, quality service to our Township. Unlike private ambulance services, the Washington Township Fire Department does not bill Township residents. Our billing office sends the bill for transport directly to your medical insurance provider. Sometimes, a resident may receive a statement from the fire department’s billing office. Generally this is sent to residents because the fire department was not able to obtain insurance information from the receiving hospital. If you are a Washington Township resident and receive a “bill” or an “invoice” for ambulance service you can direct your inquiries to the billing office at the phone number indicated on the statement. If a Washington Township resident does not have insurance or their insurance does not cover the cost of ambulance transport then residents are not responsible for any bills. As always, if you have any questions about billing you can call the Fire Department EMS Coordinator at (609) 259-7814.
